I bought this lens second-hand, but in very fine condition in November last year. I have written an extensive review of the lens in the review section
smc PENTAX-6x7 1:5.6 500mm, but thought I would post some recent shots.
The lens itself next to the smc Pentax-67 1:4 300mm:
Twice the weight and twice the length plus 95mm filter size compared to 82mm on the 300mm.
Camera: Pentax 6x7 MLU
Lens: smc Pentax 67 165mm F4 LS
Exposure: 1/125 @ F11 Leaf Shutter + AF540FGZ
Film: Fomapan 400 Action dev. in Kodak XTOL 1+1
This is what it looks like on the old Pentax 6x7:
Camera: Pentax 645N
Lens: smc Pentax-A 645 150mm F3.5 (Y2 filter)
Exposure: 1/750 @ F5.6
Film: Fomapan 400 Action dev. in Kodak XTOL 1+1
Semi-handheld shot (left hand holding the lens supported on a handrail). Metering is fine with the old TTL prism. Detail of the rudder on a coxed inrigger four rowing boat:
Exposure: 1/500 @ F8
And a fully handheld shot (rifle style with the left elbow resting on the hipbone):
Exposure: 1/500 @ F9.5
Film: Fomapan 400 Action dev. in Kodak XTOL 1+1
It is not my favourite walkaround lens. It is rather akward to carry, but it is quite fun to use once in a while. Of course a tripod is required for optimum image quality, but that is one thing more to schlepp around, so I wanted to see what could be done without one.
