645Z Timer Remote

I am trying to find a wired remote for the 645Z that supports a timer - for long exposures, but am struggling to find one that supports the 645Z.

Can anyone point me at a remote that works with the 645Z ?

Thanks

Phil

A quick Google search for "timer remote 645Z" brought results up for several different models including the Yongnuo MC-36R and JJC TM-C

TriggerTrap also works, you need cable, app and smart phone.

Thanks guys - a lot of these (in the UK) don't state 645Z, just Pentax and they show some with USB connection and some with a different connections; all very confusing :-)

Anyone know if this one works - Neewer LCD Timer Shutter Release Remote Control Cord RS-60E3

The Neewer should work fine. Pentax and Canon use the common 2.5 mm stereo jack plug with the same pin out connections

Thanks Tony; just ordered one. Expecting some long exposure work next week as I am doing some coastal shooting in North West Scotland and I am fed up with counting the seconds :-)

Maybe I am missing the trick here :-)

I got a JJC TM-C and I set it for a Bulb exposure of 10 seconds with a number of shots of one; camera set to bulb with Mirror Up turned off. Press Start and it starts the exposure and then counts down. When it gets to zero nothing happens and the camera stays open. If I set it to 2 shots, press start - starts the exposure, counts down and closes the exposure when it fires the second shot and then counts down again to zero.

Now either I am missing how this is suppose to work, or have a setting set wrong somewhere.

I would have thought on one shot, it would open the shutter, count down and then close the shutter all itself once I did the initial press of start.

Appreciate all comments telling me what I am doing wrong :-)

Thanks

Phil

Sorry if this is too basic, Phil, but are you pressing the "Set" button before starting the sequence? I have the wireless version and presumably it has the same MO.

No answer is too basic (not the way I am feeling today )

Yes, it is all set and set pressed. As it works for 2 shots, but not for one - it seems to not be getting the "close" signal sent to the camera; hence the 2nd open is going in as a close.

I'll give mine a try later.....(bought for my Canon gear but I do have a cable suitable for the 645Z too).

I've just given it a try, Phil, and it works as expected. The wireless version also has to option to plug the cable directly into the transmitter (which I did) and I tried a single exposure and a 3 shot program with both completing normally....as it performs with my Canon gear too.

Mine is the JJC WT-868 for what it's worth.

Thanks Bob

Something is stopping this working and I don't think it is the remote. Just tried a different remote (Neewer one) and the same happens; the shutter is opened but not closed at the end of the timer. I am thinking something is stopping the close signal being processed, but cant think what it is (I am assuming a setting on the 645Z)

A long shot (based on my perception of your perception of what's occurring)....how about "Slow Shutter Speed Noise Reduction"? Your user guide may not accurately reflect the camera's menu as I believe that there was a firmware change addressing the options for this feature.
