Fuji Medium format price announced in USA $6,499

Fuji just released in the USA. The price price deal here are the lenses. If they are as good as hoped could be a real winner for them.

I can't wait to see what this will do to the 645z price new and (for me more importantly - used). Will the 645D used price fall well below $2000 USD?

Giving the portability(which is important for a large camera), pricing is very competitive comparing to 645z.

The weight of Fuji GFX 2.8/63mm is 405 g, vs Pentax DFA 2.8/55m 416 g;
the GFX 4/120mm comes in at 980 g, vs 645-FA 4/120mm at 735 g.
Of course, the 645Z is 750 g heavier than the Fuji GF camera, but the primes slightly reduce that difference.

The zoom is different. The Fuji zoom 4/32-64mm can only be compared to the 4.5/28-45mm, and with 875 g it's much lighter than the latter's 1470 g, but the latter has in-lens Shake Reduction. There is of course the Pentax 645-FA 4.5/33-55mm zoom, at 585 g, but that is unlikely to compete optically based on what I've read here.

All in all, the Fuji system is definitely smaller and lighter, but perhaps not by that much if you add up gear. Speed of writing to disk will be important in the comparison.
The Hasselblad is the really small option, and if fast enough in processing, it would be the most attractive.

With the recent discounts for the 645Z (at least in the UK, £6,000 including two FA lenses), the Pentax system remains competitive I think.

That X1D looks like something that would fit in my camera a bag. DO they have a 40XS style pancake lens to go o it?

To bad I just bought a Q, I won't be able to fit them both in.

Something I always thought was possible.

If Hassleblad could do this for $8000, Pentax could have done it for $2000.

GFX Face Detection and Eye Detection AF is nice, as is the 'electronic depth of field scale' in the EVF. The [$US600] battery grip for the GFX is an interesting option too.

And lo and behold: the big Fuji has a feature I have been asking for on Pentax for years - "A voice memo function lets you solely record your voice for up to 30 seconds at a time for making notes or keeping track of shooting information". But it's strange to see that on a medium format studio camera. Normally more useful for event and sports shooters.

Having the K1, the GFX50 looks so expensive for marginal increase in IQ.
