Which side of focusing screen is fresnel?

is it the shiny top part or the milky/matte bottom part? which side is more delicate?

The milky/matte side is more fragile because of the microtexture of the surface. Damage to that side is also more visible because it's in the plane of focus of the eyepeice.

The side that faces down toward the mirror is the focus surface. The Fresnel lens, matte field, and/or focus aids are on that side.
