645 and CP+ 2017

CP+ is coming around and Adam is asking for questions to put to Ricoh Pentax. Please could any 645 users that want to see updated lenses soon, such as the road mapped 80-160, pop over to the thread that is asking for questions and at suggest that the 645 lens future is important to ask about. There is a danger that the FF prime need will swallow us up, as has the FF camera development. Glad they made the K1 but would prefer if they hadn't abandoned their MF customers in the meantime.

I completely agree. Already Made a mention of updated lenses, but it seems like the Full frame crowd are making a larger appearance in that thread. It would be nice to see some updated lenses for medium format. 80-160 would be nice, along with updated coatings and more AW designated lenses.

I would like to see some T/S lenses as well as a 80~160mm f/2 portrait prime, and for the love of god pentax make it apochromatic: I don't care in the slightest how much it will cost.

I had to look up that word, you learn something new every day! Care to elaborate why this style of lens is better (this is just for my own interest!)

Fast portrait lens around 120mm and f/2, I'd love to see a version of the 25/4 again, and tilt/shift wides for architecture.

I still feel that a fast superwide would be a wonderful asset for the system, differentiating it from the competition. Something like a 21mm f2.4. Amazing for Astro photography - a field in which the 645Z is the medium format king.

You guys... a wide angle MF lens in the f2 range would be ridiculously huge and expensive. Why not ask for something more realistic?

Apochromatic lenses tend to have better out of focus rendering due to the heavily reduced amounts of chromatic aberration: both in the plane of focus, in front of, and behind it. I work with the The Leica-S-APO-Elmar 180mm f/3.5 on my Leica S2 and is a superb portrait lens. If pentax could make, say: an Apochromatic 135mm f/2 ED for the 645Z - that would be an excellent competitive option to have for portraiture.

A few modernized leaf shutter lenses wouldn't go astray either.

I feel that the diversity of requests will only succeed in making the potential market for any new lens appear less profitable. Fast primes and zooms will have a considerable developement cost which needs relatively high sales at a good margin to make it a worthwhile proposition so I'm proposing a reasonably cheap option (developement-wise).

Re-engineer the back end of the 67 45/4 and 55/4 to get a limited tilt (and/or shift) option that shouldn't need optics designing from the ground up.

Cheers, thanks! Do you think a 135mm would really need to be f2? f2 on the 645mm would be a really thin DOF at portrait range - starting at f2.8 or f3.something, would probably result in a much easier to handle lens. (I'm throwing this idea out as a talking point than fact.)

I'm probably in the minority but I'd love to see a relatively affordable wide prime. Or zoom, but I guess but being a prime might make it cheaper.
Or I'd settle for third party too. 30mm or wider. Doesn't need to be fast.

I'd love to go wide without having to just about double the cost of my system!

Yeah, a f5.6 to f8 25mm would be amazing.

They did have the ls135 mm lens in f4. I wonder if they could use that as a base and do to it like what they did to the 75mm
