They did have the ls135 mm lens in f4. I wonder if they could use that as a base and do to it like what they did to the 75mm
I had that lens and it was very good stopped down (like equalling the 120mm) but slightly more soft wide open, as in: designed for portraits. A great lens, but nowadays, I guess more would be expected. Design a new one, I'd say, and that's not without great affection for this lens.

Do you think a 135mm would really need to be f2?
Fast glass benefits the most when it is stopped down, very few lenses perform their peak wide open, so for an f/2 lens peak performance will be realized by f/4.5~f/5.6 aperture range which is where DOF will be suitable for portraiture.

Mainly what they need to do is produce modern stabilised AW versions of some of the lenses they already have like the 45-85 and 80-160 and then maybe a wide fast prime around 28mm that would be smaller amd lighter than the monster 28-45. A new version of the 75mm would be nice.

No any sense at all. Need 645 FF sensor and F2.8 lenses are enough.

That's fair. I've always thought my 645 prime lenses were pretty amazing even wide open, but I'm not the most discerning WRT to this.

FF 645 Sensor will be $$$$ prob even $15k+ for pentax.

Pentax never produced f2 lenses for 645 system. I don't know most popular / expensive wedding photographers with MF cameras.
It's not interesting at all. It's niche part of photography. It's interesting for who plan to marry.
And wedding photography is pure technical skills. Hardly to call it ART.

How many - 10, 20, 30 peoples? Do they use Pentax?

For starters, every lens in the current line-up should be upgraded ala 35 & 55. Then match Fuji 23mm lens.

Do you suggest to develop lens for 2 users?
They can use Zeiss, Leica and Contax further

The lens with price higher than 5000 USD must bring profit.

Who said it needed to be above $5k? The closest two lenses to these at present are the 150/2.8 and the 90/2.8. The 150 is $1.4k and the 90 is $4.5k, but the 90 has the massive overhead of image stabilization.

I'd happily forego the image stabilization (but keep the weather sealing) in a 120mm and take the extra stop of speed instead to get an f/2 over the current f/2.8 options. And that's coming from someone who already has both of the aforementioned lenses.

The current 120mm is wonderful for macro use, but useless for portraiture as the bokeh can be so nasty on it.

It will be more expensive than 90 macro. It's fact. Because it would be fast and will have more glass. close to 5000 USD without any doubts.

Where could i find those lenses new, without adapters, and have the benefit of af?

Id be interested if that was the case, but im pretty sure there would be more people then just 2 who would be interested in a lens roughly between 120 and 135, no image stabilization, aw, and would like something down in the 2-2.8 range in pentax 645 mount. I think it would go somewhere around 2-4k. Thats just me dreaming though.

I doubt that Ricoh will produce "cheap" f2 lens. But...Yes. It could be really good.

I would have use for an f/2 645 lens, and it won't be cheap. Cheap lenses aren't good, good lenses aren't cheap...Pentax has already suffered enough with some of the lacklustre portrait options for the Pentax 645Z.

I am an astrophotography dude, and I won't hold my breath on such a lens. After seeing how the 25mm/F4 performs on stars, I am not going to believe Pentax can produce a 21mm lens that is useful for astrophotography at any aperture faster than F5. It's either that Pentax doesn't have the technical capability or the limitation of Pentax 645 form factor (long flange back distance), doesn't matter. I just don't believe a good wide-angle lens will be ever produced by Pentax for 645z for astrophotography.

I have to stop it down to F5.6 to make myself semi-happy.

I understand entirely and you are probably right. But I'd like to see Pentax surprise us and do it.

It could be that your standards are higher than mine, but I have produced some astro shots with the 25mm f4 DA that I am happy with (though noise is still an issue at the ISOs that are required with an f4 lens). Perhaps there is sample variation and I happen to have a good one...?

Anyhow, if they could pull it off - and do it well - I'd be delighted.
