I wouldn't buy a 645D with an FA lens for more than $2,000 USD. You're in full frame DSLR territory and won't notice much difference.
The only reason I got mine was that it cost me $1,500 USD with 3 FA lenses and only 3,600 actuations. And I couldn't afford a full frame DSLR, so I was shooting APS-C and medium format film.

Just wondering....how long have you now had the 645d and how many shots now taken?

I've had it for about 6 months now, and have not taken many shots, about 400. But I don't shoot much.

it sounds like by the end of this thread, you will be a 645 owner of some type, lol.
I owned both for about the same amount of time each and even had them both here at the same time for long enough to shoot some head to head comparisons.

I did not see if you said what type of shooting you do, but of high ISO performance is critical, there is really no comparison, the Z is the answer. I get usable images all the way up to ISO 4000.
I am a landscape shooter, however, and stay at ISO 100 most of the time, so there is no practical difference in image quality between D and Z at base ISO. In fact, I prefer the SOOC color rendering of the D over the Z, no question. On pixel peeping, resolution difference(40MPvs50MP) is nearly undetectable.

IMO, the most useful feature of the Z has been focus peaking which allows me to nail my manual focus every time. This is a great feature.

Otherwise, I remain a huge fan of the D and in the right hands for the right purpose, it is still a magic box.

Good luck!

PS - shutter problem? I never heard about that other than I knew it was rated for 100,000clicks or something like that. Unless you are churning out time lapses, I would say it takes great effort to manage 100,000 clicks with a medium format camera. I became a much more disciplined, deliberate shooter when I switched to the Z. YMMV

I got my 645D when they first came out. on paper the Z beats the hell out of the D. the D has never failed me when I stay within it's limitations. i'm sticking with it.
