can someone inform me on this issue. I bought a new 645Z but the firmware and digital dates, such as file saving are from 12.31.2013. That seems rather old . could this be an old new camera from stock. Or do that all say 3 years old.
My firmware is also 1.0 ????

Charge the battery and make sure you always keep a charged battery in the camera. Late 2013 is probably the default date, since the 645Z came out before that.

Feel free to update the firmware if you want the latest features, too.

i tried 3 readers but i did not see a "manufactures date" only dates listed are, show, 3 years ago. With none saying specifically the camera birth date.

do you know an online program that reads the camera production date?

The best EXIF reading tool is EXIFTOOL. Just download it, uncompress it, and drop an UNEDITED 645Z DNG or JPEG on top of it to view the EXIF in an image. You will be amazed at the volume of data hidden there.

Jeffrey Friedl's web EXIF reader (powered by EXIFTOOL) also does pretty well reading the EXIF, if you don't mind posting huge files over the web just to read EXIF. (It does, however, truncate some of the EXIF data like the metering segment readings, and mangles a few other data field types). To find the 645Z 'Manufacture Date' field, scroll down to the 'Makers Notes' section of the listings.

no, i'm not doing something right, I'm getting dates but they all refer to the photo. I don not see any camera manufacturer date.

BTW, you need to send straight-out-of-camera image files to all these EXIF viewers, not edited ones.
