Yes its good that they have finally released the review!

The DXO measurements are just part of the the story, of course, but the K-1 graphs actually stack up pretty well against the 645Z (but the extra resolution obviously gives the Z an advantage).

Apparently DxO doesn't do Medium format camera reviews, they said it was against their policy to publish medium format reviews.

All this proves is exactly how shady things are at DxO - and gives me even more reasons to distrust them.

Yeah, it's remarkable that they'd written the review back in the day, but decided not the cover MF and therefore suppress the results for no good reason until they managed to surpass it with something from one of the brands they've espoused previously.

In my opinion I think they are full of crap and are beholden to their sponsors.

Hassy soaked the Sony sensors in oak barrels for a few years, Pentax used the sensors right after the fermentation process was finished. That explains why Hassy gets the better score.
If you are a red wine amateur, you'll understand what I mean. As a matter of fact, DXO is located in France, the country of red wine. Doesn't it make sense?

I bet the DXO team thought we would simply forget and the "noise" would die down on its own. Then they published the Hassy review and the noise amplified while their credibility sank. Phooey on them. They waited for something to come along that would beat the 645Z before publishing this thin review.

It's telling that the Pentax came out around 2 years earlier (and you can find several tests at around that time), yet they only publish the review around 2 1/2 years after launch, for a camera that shook the status quo.

The difference in scores (101 versus 102) and the break down of those scores (DR 14.7 versus 14.8, sports iso 4489 versus 4505, color depth 26.0 versus 26.2) have to be within the error range of their testing or even sample variation. If you measured three 645zs, you probably would get slightly different scores but to me, these are testing the same even if the absolute numbers give a very slight edge to the Hasselblad.

Can't help reading this as:

Hasselblad, which is expensive like the Pentax, performs very well, but so it should with the price and sensor size. But, hey look at this Nikon. It's less than half the price. Is FF, with all it's 'advantages' and the difference in performance is basically the same as the two medium formats. Time to dust off the Pentax review now we can promote a Nikon. Personally, I wish DXoMark would just be honest with their motivations ...

IMO the only good drink that comes from France is Cognac. I grew up in the Barossa valley, one of the best wine growing areas in Australia - and I hate wine.

This really does play into the conspiracy theory mindset - hey, we just reviewed a camera that blows all our sponsor's competition out of the water - better not publish the results until one of those sponsors comes out with something "better". Back to if it walks like a duck, talks like a duck, looks like a duck....

They mentioned something like this in the review, commenting on how the Nikon 850 was pretty close to the 645Z, due to the sensor advances in the intervening 3 years since the 645Z came out.
