I still don't have much idea why, if they had the 645z data done, they didn't go ahead and publish it, but I do understand why they don't aggressively test Pentax cameras.

They are trying to sell software -- software that competes in the same market as things like Lightroom. I haven't used it, but I guess it has better lens correction tools and noise reduction options than Lightroom has, along with being really slow. Either way, they probably don't move a whole lot of copies for Pentax cameras, while it is paramount that they cover cameras like the A9 and D850. Their published data comes out of the testing they are doing on cameras and lenses for their software's database. If Pentax sold a lot more cameras or Pentaxians bought a higher percentage of DXO Mark's software than Canon/Nikon/Sony, then that would probably push them to cover Pentax cameras a little better. For the time being they won't.

Oh, so it turns out I have a very good camera. I really never knew this. I thought it was point and shoot with no reason for being quite pricey. I bought it just because it was expensive and a bit heavy and slow. I am so disappointed that it turns out to be just as good as the best camera released later. If only DxO had released this information sooner I would have been able to afford to eat over these last few years.

Really? i bought it because i thought it would make a great paper weight. It being large, flat base, nice to look at, a good weight, and weather sealed in case of coffee spillage. Until this article i had no idea it was a great camera too. Looks like i need to try it out.

They really don't need to be ashamed unless for some reason they aren't selling enough copies of their software. The whole database thing is just cheap advertising for them to drive traffic to their site. I don't really think the 645z would have sold any more copies if it was at the top of the chart for the last couple of years. Folks interested in medium format usually know what they want both from a lens and body standpoint without a DXO Mark score to tell them that what they are doing is OK.
