I haven't held a baby of any size and weight for about 50 years, but I enjoyed the comparison.

The 645Z with the 120/4 is heavy enough that I don't enjoy hand-holding it long enough for the wind to die. My 85-year old wrists are not what they used to be. I'll see how it goes with the 28-45mm when it arrives.

I used a baby because itʻs the only heavy thing I remember carrying for hours on end. My first was a premie at under 5 lbs, 25 years ago, so when my second was born at term with a normal weight, I went from medium format to large format.

I can handle the 645 in large part, because of the lighter primes. They also help create a balanced ballast in my photo vest pockets.

You may want to renew that gym membership and start working out now. Otherwise, itʻll be a physiotherapist.

In terms of weight, I just came upon a screamingly good deal on a dream view camera--a pristine Sinar P. It came wtih the Expert Kit in a case that they picture using as a footstool. Carry that thing around a while, and the 645z with a heavy lens won't seem so heavy.

The 28-45 is really a good lens, very useful as a wide zoom, and OS is welcome for hand-holding in low light, very effective indeed.
It sure is heavy, but the most tiring aspect is that is not really a compact lens. The weight is far away from the grip...

Optically very good (bokeh not particularly beautiful, though), no noticeable CA, sharp on all the range and from corner to corner ; WR is a big advantage (even if not necessary for some).
One of the stars of the 645 lenses with the 90mm DFA. I am really happy to have bought one.

I mean it's one of the best wide angle lenses for any MF system. It has built in stabilization which was a first for MF lenses. It is extremely sharp across the whole frame. Besides its weight it is a near perfect lens and you wonder why it is expensive? It is very cheap compared to Leica, Phase one etc.

Don't be afraid of buying used lenses. The japanese ebay sellers are very honest. I have bought many perfect used lenses from them. I have seen the 28-45 go for as little as $2000.

I'm extremely happy with mine but I don't shoot handheld. My Z is a tripod bound landscape shooter. The 28-45 is an astonishing piece of equipment for that purpose and I don't regret the outlay.

I think it's funny when perople post this lens starting at like $6000 or $7000. Like wtf man I can walk into any camera shop on buy it for $4000. Was it the pope's or something?

Before I learned from you guys of the truly affordable 28-45 lenses, I ordered one from Hong Kong for $3,310. Said to be mint, with box etc. Probably airborne as I write this. I'll report after I've used it a little.

The mpb lens must have moved swiftly; I did search that site without seeing a $1700 28-45mm.

I've appreciated all the comments.
