Lens layout/diagram?

Hi, I've been shooting a 6x7 since this past winter and having a lot of fun with it. I have a question though. Does anyone know where I can get a hold of optical layouts/diagrams for 6x7 lenses, either on this site or someplace else? I looked in lens reviews and lens search but couldn't find anything that gave me a lens construction diagram. Thanks

We have diagrams for many lenses, but not all. Click in to the lens you're interested in (in the database linked above), and if we have a diagram it will be there.

Many thanks! However, I guess there isn't one for my two lenses. Thanks anyway

What are your lenses? Perhaps we can locate the diagrams elsewhere

I’ll just say welcome to the forum, as your already getting assistance on the lens enquiry.

This site doesn't have all the lenses but there are a fair number:

Pentax SMC 67 35-75

Pentax SMC 67 90-300

Pentax SMC 67 400-1000

Pentax SMC 67 Zooms and others

I was able to track down a diagram for the 90mm. Wasn't able to find one for the 55mm, though.

is your 90 the leaf shutter model or the non leaf shutter model? If its the non-leaf shutter model, the link I posted above has the 67 version which is optically identical. If its the leaf shutter version, well, I've never seen a diagram of that one.

The 90 LS was called a Takumar, the regular 90mm was a Pentax. I have the cross section of the 55mm 6x7 ( second optical version) if that is the one you want. Let me know Medium4Matt.

Hi Steve,
Any idea what fundamental optical layout changes were introduced in the 1989 version, the SMC Pentax 67 55mm?
Other than cosmetic? I sold my 55mm because of irritating internal rattles when it was picked up. It was also had an annoyingly stiff focus movement and compared to the SMC Pentax 67 75mm f2.8AL with its feather-touch focus, it was a very jarring experience.

Yeah Gary, the one that I have pictured was based on a Biogon design with thick central elements and mostly negative elements up front and a more positive group at the rear used to clear the mirror box. It's not that different from the 45mm. The latest 55 uses thin elements and is clearly based on a Distagon design. Every iteration of the 55 was an improvement on the last; typical Japanese continuous improvement philosophy.
