Lens question: FA 35 vs. DFA 35

I have just purchased a used HD DFA 35mm lens and should see it shortly. In an effort to use my 645Z more, I am going to sell my 28-45mm lens because although it’s good, it’s just too large and heavy for the most times I use my Z, which is when I am traveling overseas or interstate.

Looking forward to doing some tests when it arrives.

I've been watching this thread for a while, I was looking for.a wider option that the 45-85 for my 645D (realising that I can't possibly justify thinking about a DA25 or 28-45 for a while). I was considering the FA35 and the FA33-55 (I know the latter doesn't get as much love) but they're available (used from Japan) for similar prices. As the FA35 is reported to be very sharp and the 33-55 doesn't match it in the reviews - I was torn between the two. It's interesting how many comments I've seen about the 28-45 being too big & heavy.

Comments about the field curvature on the FA35 pushed me towards the 33-55 (which is also reported to have it) - the zoom allows me to slim down my kit to two lenses if needed (either the 33-55 & 45-85 or the 33-55 & one of my longer 6x7 lenses). This is important as my 'small' bag will only take two lenses and it's often the only option. I'm not expecting stellar performance and haven't had much opportunity to test it properly, but the results I'm getting are encouraging so far.
