FA80-160 is dead. Replace with same or FA120??

Hi,
My FA80-160 lens has copped a few falls over the years and needs replacing. I have been waiting patiently for the new tele zoom listed on the roadmap but surprise surprise......it never came and I doubt that it ever will come.

So, should I replace it with another cheap used FA80-160 or should I look at an FA120 Macro? I also have a DFA35 and DFA55, plus when I travel I typically take my Canon 5D4 and 70-200/4 L IS and an Ultra-wide zoom to cover the range that the Pentax does not.

IMO, the DFA 35, DFA 55, and the 120 (either version) are to the 645 what the Limiteds are to the APSC and FF formats. I think only the rarer 135LS competes with the 120 in sharpness (excluding the pricey 90) in the short tele realm.

Thanks. I’ve looked at all my images and there’s a lot taken between 80-110mm.

I will need to rethink this......

It’s a big hole from 55 to 120, but the 200/4 FA is cheap, compact, light, and excellent, as is the 75, so the holes left by getting the 120 are not hard to fill. I have an 80-160, but it rarely ends up in the bag. Sometimes you need a do-all short tele zoom, but sometimes you also need macro, and an 80-160 doesn’t offer much solution there.

FA 80-160 is dirt cheap and you can easily find "like-new" copies on EBay. Go for it, it is a very useful lens.
