645Z Av bracketing order

I'm really enjoying my newly acquired 645Z and am getting used to the controls and am very pleased with my images! I shoot Av 5 image brackets , to further load into Photomatix Pro (HDR) and really prefer the order of the shots to be 0, -x, -x, +x, +x........ with the brightest being last. I see in the menu where I can select order with 3 exposures but with 5 , I can't; its seem preselected Any secret to selecting 5 exposure order (shooting in Av). ?
Thanks.

Terry , I cannot help you with your question, but have this observation to make. You post a lovely picture as part of your post, taken with your 645Z. A medium format camera. Why are you posting an image 749x437 pixels ? A point and shoot can do better these days. Please post an image most of us can view in full screen.

I don't have a 645Z, but given the general similarity between Pentax lines, I suspect it behaves similarly to my K-3. Making that assumption and checking the menu guide, the short answer is that the pattern 0, -1, -2, +1, +2 is not supported.*

Diving a little deeper, Pentax bracketing is a strange beast and even going with the default order (your choice), its behavior may be both unusual and unexpected at the extremes of supported settings. I have been meaning to do a write-up, but keep putting it off. The basic gist is to remember that bracketing is based on the exposure compensation feature and that the zero point of the bracket may not be the nominal metered setting. Note too that fail-over for an out-of-supported range bracket point will probably result in a repeated exposure without a blinky display as a warning. My general advice is to use the default order and be aware of whether there is headroom to execute the full number of bracket points.

Steve

* The closest option would be 0, -1, +1, -2, +2
