Favorite 67II lenses.

Favorite 67 lens is the 75mm 2.8, followed by the 165mm and 55mm. I shoot mainly landscape photography and I especially like the 75mm 2.8 for night photography. I tripod my 67II but then I tripod everything including my image stabilized A700. My 67II is one of four cameras I would never part with, the other three being a Pentax 645N, Ebony 4x5, and a Fuji GA645ZI.

Here are a few more details on my Pentax 67II and my lens choices. Why the Pentax 67II? Because I was getting really frustrated with the limitations and poor results I was obtaining from the vintage 6x6 and 6x9 folders I had purchased from Jurgen Kreckel. After testing my sonís Fuji GSW690, it came down to a choice between the Fuji and the 67II. Both are great and someday Iíll add the Fuji 6x9 to the camera bag. I chose the 67II for the excellent through the lens metering and the great selection of interchangeable lenses. I did not need interchangeable back since it only takes 10 exposures to rip though a roll of film. I shoot mainly landscape and my most locally available subject, abandoned farm houses. My first two lenses purchases where the 55mm and the 200mm because they shared the same filter size and because they were close equivalents to my favorite 35mm primes. When it was announced that the 67II had been discontinued, I quickly purchased what I believe was the last 75mm 2.8 that B&H had on the shelf. I could have called the bag full but with all the good 67II buys available on eBay I have also added the 90mm, 135mm, and the 165mm. All these 67II lenses are great, no complaints about any. The 75mm 2.8 is my favorite because of itsí smaller physical size, 67mm filter size, speed, and focal length. When cruising the country side on my enduro dual sport motorcycle, the 75mm and 165mm are the ones in my tank bag. My least used lens is the 200mm but when I do grab it, it is usually with a tele-extender. I shoot mainly B&W and the chrome films E100vs and Fuji 400x. View a 67II chrome on the light table and you will know why I feel it is a camera I cannot live without.

The 75/2.8 is next on my list of 67 lenses to buy. They're very hard to find on the used market. KEH had one not long ago, but it was only there about a day. They tend to get snapped up very quickly. Fortunately, new ones are available at Tin Cheung cameras in Hong Kong at a pretty reasonable price.
For those who are thinking of getting into the 67 system, it's important to note that while they are discontinued in The USA and EU, they are still being produced for the Asian market, and most lenses, as well as new 67II bodies can be bought online at Tin Cheung or Harry's Pro Shop in Toronto. It's not a dead system!

I would like to know which Pentax 67, or Takumar 6x7 lenses that you liked & used the most??.. What was your reason for owning a Pentax 67 camera??..Amateur or professional??..Studio, portrait, landscape, etc.??..

Lastly, should we start a Pentax 67 & Takumar 6x7 Lens Club thread??..
Bruce

PS...if you can afford to spend a little more.....get the 67II....I had picked up a 6x7 and then saw Ron's 67II on this site for sale.....and couldn't say no. The 6x7 is great but the 67II is unreal. Now I just wish it would stop raining on my days off so I can use it!!

Congrats on the 67II. My 67 hasn't seen a single roll of film since I got the 67II. Hope your weather clears up soon.
