Looseness of second aperture ring on 67 75mm shift

Hi everyone!

I just acquired a “near-mint++++++” 75mm shift lens for my system and have a question:

While the indexed aperture stop ring has beautiful crisp clicks, the non-indexed preview ring seems very loose. As in, you slightly brush it and it moves with no resistance. Is this normal? Thanks so much.

Not sure about the 67 75 shift lens but It's totally normal on the K 28/3.5 shift lens.

Given that the second ring is use to flick between full-open (for focusing & composition) and closed-to-the-click stop (for shooting), it's good that it's easy to turn. In fact, if the second ring were stiff, it would raise the risk of disturbing the first-ring setting.

Welcome to the forum!

Yep it's normal and that's how a "Preset" lens works.

I have attached a copy of the manual if you need it.

Thanks so much! Everything else on the lens seems perfect so I wanted to make sure, since I haven’t used and aperture stop system before. Can’t wait to try it out!

This has reminded me to check this lens on my 6x7 MLU - its metering only works in stop down mode for some reason (the chain appears OK). Without the Auto/Man switch, I don't know if this lens will allow me to meter with that body.

Yes the 75mm shift requires stop down metering, as it's a manual diaphragm lens.
