The amount of magnification needed depends on the dot pitch of the monitor (100% is a one-to-one mapping of image to display pixels). The K-3 does 100% at 8.3x.

Thanks for the explanation. Since the 645Z is based on the K-3, it's surprising the screens are so different. I'm glad Ricoh puts the 100% indicator on their cameras it is useful.
