Found a good deal on mint condition 645 FA 400 lens, but it doesn't have a hood.
The OEM hood for that lens is a PH-RBE77, but those seem to be hard to find and expensive.
The hood from my 90 Macro, which is an RBL77 fits, but not perfectly, there is a little bit of a gap.
The 80-160 has a 77mm hood, RBF77. Does anyone have an 80-160 and an FA400 and if so can you see if the 80-160 hood fits well on the 400?
Or if you have a DA*300, can you see if the hood from that(RBK77) fits well on the 400?
Thanks,
Steve
The 80-160/4.5 hood that I have fits the 400/5.6. However, the length of the 400 hood is about 120 mm with no cut-outs, while the 80-160 hood is cut away for the FOV corners, has a maximum length of 86 mm and a minimum length of 58 mm. If you use the 80-160 hood, then an add-on cylinder of cardboard or other material may be wanted for full glare reduction.
Note: both of my hoods of this type have screw adjustments on the clamping mechanism. If turning is difficult, loosen the screws a tad. Conversely, if the attachment is sloppy, tightening may help. Screws are black on black, so difficult to see in poor light.
The part number on the 80-160 hood agrees with your comment. I cannot find a part number on my 400 hood. The 80-160 hood seems to fit as well as any of my hoods on their respective optics (excluding rubber hoods).
