Camera Repair: Pentax 645Z & 28-45mm

I recently dropped my 645Z + 28-45mm lens on pavement, badly denting the filter ring and leaving several dents on the body. I've made a claim with my insurance and naturally the adjuster is making things as difficult as possible and is requiring I find out if someone can repair it first.

Is there anywhere in the U.S. that could potentially repair the lens + camera?

On a separate note, make sure you zip your camera bag shut before you swing it onto your shoulder, SMH.

If it is still under the Advantage plan warranty you would send the body to Precision Camera. Otherwise non-warranty repairs can be sent to any authorized repair service.

I did that with my laptop once (MacBook Pro), about half an hour before I was due to give a seminar with it at the International Space Science Institute in Beijing. Thankfully, it still worked.

I wouldn't expect insurance to replace the equipment if it can be repaired, especially if it still is working other than the filter ring.

So sorry this happened to you. First, yes Precision camera. They have an online quote generator, but be sitting down when you get the result. I may call them today about something, a lens hood issue with my 31 ltd---it's loose, but the quote generator just spits out a number w/o regard to the problem, it seems. If you're in warranty, make haste, though!

Second, check that the Z still works with another lens. I fell off a 5 foot ladder and landed camera first(fortunately not lens first...). I was more hurt than the camera, they are pretty tough.
Third, there do exist
if you are OOW and don't like Precision's quote.

Most repair shops are not going to give an estimate on impact damage without holding the camera or lens in their hands.

Warranty doesn't cover damage from drops. However if enrolled in the Advantage program repairs should be expedited and may be eligible for loaner equipment.
