I used 120 Kodachrome 64 when it was available and then I felt I had control over my final results but C-41 film's end result is at the mercy of the person who makes the final print and digitalized images from these negatives are a mere compromise at best. Maybe I should try the new version of Ektachrome 100. At my age, it should outlast me ... lol.

Thank you for your comments, Phil.

Regards

The popularity of the Pentax 67 system in the past 10 years has really taken off, as seen in Flickr and Facebook P67 group membership. Prices for those bodies and lenses have escalated as a result.

Hi Steve,
A Pentax 67 with 45 and 55mm lenses sold here in Australia (New South Wales) privately for more than AU$8,000, around 10th August I think. It was through Gumtree and selling from the filthy-rich suburb of Mosman in (Sydney) NSW. I had only seen the listing once and didn't pay much attention to it, thinking it was a Japan listing (laughable, as improbable as that would be for Gumtree!!). Meanwhile, the 75mm f2.8AL is still heading north in used and NOS/NIB markets. No way I would buy it for $3,700 when I got mine for $1,000! Hang on to those little chestnuts!!

The 67 is so popular now that I had the thought that Pentax should resurrect the 67 version. New bodies and lenses would be big sellers. It would probably drop the price of the 75AL and 105 on the used market.

you can use all pentax 645/67 lenses on sony/canon/nikon/leica mirrorless by using a cambo actus! (and you will have mulitple tilt/shift options!) only stupid people dump MF lenses!!! :-)

Yes, I agree! The 67 (cameras that require the user to think for themselves, rather than follow the camera's advice) would also encourage photographers to concentrate and build on conceptualisation, pictorial aesthetics and skills development rather than bat on endlessly about sensors, pixels, bokeh and bunkum.

I cannot find the listing for the hugely expensive 67 on Gumtree. It may have been a Closed Private listing where things are kept hush-hush to garner maximum interest and push the price up. Plenty of other examples on the web with cameras heading north in price ranges, esp. Japan.

There's definitely Fuji MF users out there buying Pentax lenses to use with an adapter. The Fuji lenses are spendy, so it's an easy way for them to greatly expand their options.

I hope my "enthusiastic" reviews of 3 previously maligned 645 zooms (FA 33-55 mm f/4.5, FA 55-110 mm f/5.6 and FA 150-300 mm f/5.6) didn't influence the price increases we are seeing on eBay these days. I payed 400$ for the WA zoom, 210$ for the normal zoom and 260$ for the telephoto zoom earlier this year. Lately I didn't see any copy of the FA 33-55 mm on the market for less than 600 $ ...

Hi,

I think I helped. Increase prices, that is. I went and told all of cyberspace who was paying attention that the P645 lenses were pretty much dirt cheap and excellent performers at the same time. Plus, useful on smaller format bodies with tilt/shift adapters. And, then I also went and blabbed about a couple of 6x7 lenses to boot.

The only part I didn't say much about was the low cost 6x7 MLU I picked up, also on the cheap, just out of curiosity as to how large it might really be. About the same size as my old Kodak 760c (APS-H 6 MP Kodak back on a Nikon F5). But, I do see where the 6x7 stuff is rising in price as well. I eyeball eBay on a daily basis for P645 and P67 stuff just to see if there is anything I might like to add.

And, there is that (already pointed out) part regarding the Fuji MF users and Pentax lenses. Fuji has had a seemingly endless sale on the 50R for the past few months. That's getting a lot of attention and I agree that some of those Fuji buyers would be looking at the Pentax 645 lenses.

So it's you guys that have messed up the market now. Was hoping to get a couple of bargains this year, but no luck. :-)

A friend of mine bought a Fuji 50R on sale with a couple of lenses for a really good price, all new. We went out for a sunrise photoshoot one morning and I must say that the 50R is way to complicated for me. He was forever tapping away on menus and touch screen settings to be able to take a picture. It was like operating a smartphone on a tripod.

The late version of the 67 105/2.4 is one lens that has gone way up in price. Lots on eBay now for over $800.00USD, that's 3x the price I paid six years ago.

True ! On a 645Z, the 105 f/2.4 acts as an 85 mm in Full Frame, thus as a "portrait" lens. Plus it is blazingly sharp stopped down a couple of stops.

Put on the 75 2.8AL, and you won't need to stop down for the best results! There are quite a few people in Australia using the 645Z and just the 75AL universally (one camera+one lens kit).

On my Pentax 67 II, the M 75 mm f/2.8 AL was not impressive at f/2.8 and at f/4. It came into its own starting from f/5.6 on. I tried it many times and it was best around f/8, f/11 on film. It would perform better on the smaller photogram of the 645Z though.
