Wilderness: I like doing astrophotography in dark, remote areas. I'm unlikely to encounter anyone else. On the other hand, if I do encounter danger, help is far away and I might not even have a cell phone signal. I'm more concerned about slipping and getting injured, or startling a large animal.

Very rational. I bet statistically your biggest worry should be a traffic accident, even in the US.
