Rotating filter ring

The 80-160 has a neat rotating filter ring making it easier to use polarizing filters. Do any other 645 lens have this feature?

Thanks,
barondla

Ive not seen any. It’s a neat feature, though! Here’s a link to other 645’s- http://www.ricoh-imaging.co.jp/japan/products/lens/images/645_Mount_Lens.pdf

I think it's the only 645 lens with this feature. I have 16 other 645 Focal Lengths and none have this filter wheel, not even the older A 80-160 mm f/4.5.

Regards

Thanks. The lens roadmap posted above shows 2 lenses that were supposed to come out in 2017 or beyond? Guessing it didn't happen? Did we ever hear more info on them?

Thanks,
barondla

The Pentax DFA 645 f/4 25mm AL[IF] SDM AW has a filter wheel for the supplied CP filter that can be inserted mid body to replace a "natural" glass proxy. (We can assume that the time it takes light to travel through the CP filter is matched by that of the natural filter: thickness/index of refraction; dispersion might be closely matched also.)

There are some deep hoods with ports that provide a means of rotating conventional front CP filters.

Edit: Now that I think about it, I recall an image of the monster 645 600 mm having a similar device near its narrow end.

While it may not be a filter wheel, the FA 150mm f/2.8 hood has a piece that slides out to give access to the filter (so you can turn it). I think the FA 35mm has this feature too (I sold my copy) as does the FA 45-85mm f/4.5

Interesting info. Thanks everyone.

Funny story. The FA 80-160 was my second lens for the 645Z (first was the A 120 macro). Like most, I bought the lens used and didn't receive any instructions with it. On the first shoot I remove the lens hood to install a polarizer. Oh no, the whole front of the lens is loose and spinning. I carefully got the filter installed and finished shooting. Feared the whole front element was going to fall out of the lens. Worried the whole time about how I was going to fix the lens. Hours later I finally figure out the lens was designed this way. Doh.

Thanks,
barondla
