Kenko 2x teleconverter for 6x7?

Anyone ever compare this to the Pentax? Saw one for sale and was curious.

Thanks,
barondla

Have never tried the Kenko but given how inexpensive the Pentax 2X is, why bother with the Kenko. The gray version from Pentax is pretty good. The 1.4X is even better.

Exactly, why bother with a jobber's offering when you can get the original 67 gray 1.4X or 2X TC for a very decent price. They are both excellent devices.

Already have both gray Pentax. They are fine.

Just wondered where the Kenko fit in. Sometimes aftermarket outperforms OEM. In 645 optics the Pentax 2x isn't that highly thought of.

The 645 2X TC is quite disappointing but the 67 2X TC is very good. Of course 1.4 X TC's are much better in the 2 lens lines. I never had a jobber's offering outperforming my Original Photographic Instruments, be it Minolta's (in the film era) or Pentax's (now in digital). Biggest heartache was a 600 mm f/8 Sigma catadioptric for my Minolta's, a total disaster. So no more jobber's stuff for me.

I played a bit with the K mount Kenko 2x TC and found it to be on par with the Pentax K mount grey version the TC2.0L. I think that is the correct name for it. Although, as a side note, the Kenko K mount version gives autofocus, which doesn't help if you mount it on a F5.6 lens or slower, because it keeps on hunting due to not enough light to lock on.

I think the only way to find out is to take a chance and buy the Kenko and test it. I was not impressed with the 6x7 TC2.0x grey version. So it might just be much better. The 6x7 TC1.4x grey version is fantastic in my opinion.

Looking fwd to your assessment :-)
