SMC Pentax-DA 645 25mm F4 AL [IF] SDM AW in combination with a Pentax 645 film camera

Hi! I tried out of curiosity how Da 645 25mm works combination with original Pentax 645 camera and I will show the results here as well. I used aperture F 11. The vignette was even larger at the larger openings. All the best. Andrus

Interesting. It doesn't vignette as much as suspected. My unmodified Pentax 60-250, is considered usable on the FF K-1 and it doesn't look much better. Do you own the 25 and a digital 645?

Thanks for sharing,

No, this lens belongs to my employer, but I can borrow it. A few years ago, we ordered the DFA version, but it was discontinued after ordering, so we got the DA version. With a film camera and full aperture, the vignette is pretty big. From an artistic point of view, I like it.

Thanks for watching,
Andrus

I did use the DA* 60-250 on the K1 for a while and it looked nothing as bad as this.

I used aperture priority mode.

I did not think that worked on film cameras with DA sdm lenses. Good to know

I guess this is a capture made with attached hood. How does it look without hood?

Unfortunately, the hood cannot be removed. But we can see it as a restriction that is the beginning of creativity :-)

Ok, then of course my question is obsolete. Thanks for your quick reply!

Interesting. And not as bad as I expected.

Although I have the DFA version (so there's no personal need to worry) photos at infinity vs minimum focal distance would also be interesting. Preferably at a variety of apertures.

I can do it the next time I take this lens and find the time, but of course then already in front of a digital camera

The vignetting seen in the photo looks a lot like the hood rather than the lens assembly running out of angular focal plane. But as Ed Hurst pointed out in his DA vs. DFA breakfast tour comparison, there are also differences in internal masking.

Yes, by this comparison, the hood of the Da version seem much deeper. Thanks for pointing out this comparison.
