LS 67 Lenses on Pentax 645Z and 645D

Hi all,
can I use 67 Leaf Shutter lenses (I'm specially talking about the 165LS/4 lens) use on a 645z/d with it's intended leaf shutter functionality and if yes than how? I could buy one through ebay but I'm hesitating I do own of course the 67/645 Adapter.
Thanks in advance!

Interesting question. Could not remember myself. I have the Pentax 67 LS f4 100mm lens. I also have the Pentax made 67 to 645 adapter. Just pulled out my 645z and gave it a test. Answer: yes the equipment I tested works as expected. The 645z triggers both the regular side of the LS lens and stops down when the shutter is pressed and also triggers the LS shutter of the lens. I also tested my 645 75LS lens on my z as well (I hadn't used it in a while). I would say that the 67 LS lens and the 645 LS lens function as they should on the Z. One difference is that the 67 lens and adapter have no electrical contacts so lens state info like aperture or LS speed do not pass to the 645z exif data, while my 645 LS lens does and some info is passes to the camera.

Also, I did not test the flash trigger pc connection on either lens but I would expect them to work normally as well.

Happy buying.

I used that lens on a 645D about five years ago. I sold the 645D after a year of planned use, but still have that lens and adapter. I used the 165 mostly for on-location shooting—landscapes per se, but not traditional scenic landscape photography; I drive around and photograph the land or things on the land that I see that interest me. I used the 645 35mm lens much more frequently, using the 165 when I needed longer reach. I know I have one photograph made with the lens that I exhibited, but I don't have that image online. All that to say I didn't really use the lens for its leaf shutter capabilities and advantages with strobes.

I twice offered it for sale, so I guess it's not a favorite among the 67/645 users . . . or they already have it.

I belong to the group of the users/true believers. The Pentax 67 165mm f/4 LS is one of the finest 67 lenses. The glowing reviews here say it all: SMC Pentax 67 / SMC Pentax-6x7 165mm F4 Leaf Shutter Reviews - 67 Telephoto Primes - Pentax Lens Reviews & Lens Database

A true gem!

Cheers!

To use the leaf shutter for high flash sync speeds with a 6x7 LS lens, you need to set the camera's shutter speed to 1/4, clock the shutter at the lens and you are ready to go
That's how it works on my 645D + 67 LS 165 mm lens.
