I store mine (in the bag) front element down, I've got 6 pieces of 3" mailing tube that are hot-glued together. One lens each in 4 of the tubes, then one "loaded' camera in the remaining two (KX is Ilford Delta 400, LX is Kodak Portra 400)

One tube has a teleconverter + a 28mm in it, I've got a layer of foam between them.

A practical advantage of having them face down means that I'm grabbing them by the rear cap to pull them out, which makes things WAY easier, esp for the shorter lenses. Plus I can fit more in the bag this way, without risking them getting dinged up.

It's nice to know that there are some technical advantages to this approach as well ! :-)
