645 exp counter

Hi,

I've bought a Pentax 645 (first type) analog camera to add to my "to use camera's"
Everything okay, except that exp counter doesn't start at 1 after loading a new film, but at 18?!?

It's my first roll in, so I only took 3 photos so far, and the counter is adding each1 with each shot.

Does anyone know what the problem can be, or is it a no problem at all?

You've got a 120 back, not a 220 back, right?

Any chance you changed batteries with film in it? OR loaded /swapped the film back with dead batteries? Sometimes that will mess it up.
Did you check the CR1220 backup battery?

I think you're going to have to waste the roll of film to figure out what's going on.

I've loaded it with a fresh film and a fresh set of batteries, not sure anymore in wich order.
Back-up battery I'll check.

Lets hope there will be some images on my fresh roll Porta 800, we'll see, fingers crossed

Have you tried to reset the camera settings? On the 645n2 you press and hold both up and down arrows, until "CL" is displayed, perhaps it works the same on your model.

Not sure if that's a good idea mid role, but I'll try that when this role is finished.

Problem is solved
Seems that, when I got my camera, I've first put a film in the camera and just then new batteries

Now the first role of film is exposed and I've load a new film the counter starts on 1 as it should
So there you go, always makes sure there are batteries in the camera before you load a film!
