Capture One support for Pentax 645z - Finally!!!

Took them a long time to change there support policy but support appears to be here for 645z - I have not tried it but this is the web page

Version needed 21 (14.4.0) and sadly no tether support

I looked at capture one a few months ago, but honestly I could not see any dramatic kind of 'must-have-that' features compared with ACR & Photoshop.

I agree. Have only played with it for a short while for Fuji raw files (the free Fuji version) and cannot so far see any compelling reason to change from LR, PS and ACR.

Still there are those that insist it is better in some ways including the anti Adobe lobby

I use DXO myself. I’d love to see a clear indication of what different tools offer and why people use them.

What does the comment “change their support policy” refer to?

I just downloaded the new version and checked the 645z support.
It's there, so no more fiddling with EXIF data to trick Capture One into playing with the files.
The colour rendition seems to be good at first glance. However, I will have to re-create all my LCC profiles and check if a custom ICC profile will further enhance the quality.
Unfortunately, there is no tethering support for the 645z, but as there has never been any tethering support for Pentax in C1, I wouldn't expect it soon.

it is my understanding that in the past Capture One would not offer support for direct competitors to Phase One products.

Can anyone with this new version see if the following use case is fully supported please?: Using Pentax 645 lenses on Fuji bodies, with full lens profile corrections there... Thanks!

We should all bow down and praise their graciousness towards us. Perhaps not.

Capture One refused to support the 645Z as a competitor to their medium format products in the past.
Then they dropped their backs with 44x33mm sensors, and supported Fuji products just after saying that Fuji will stick to small MF sensors.
Does it give an information on what Pentax will do in the future with 645 line ?

That's what they always said. It was watered down when they made a deal with Fuji and started to support the Fuji GFX series with Capture One 11.3.

This is great news!

I'm used to the workflow in Capture One, switching over to something else for the photos I take with my 645Z was a pain.

I prefer C1 over LR, only drawback is no tethering for Pentax. But it is not the fault of PhaseOne it is the fault of Ricoh/Pentax not giving them the support they need. If Ricoh/Pentax wanted it, PhaseOne would do it, but Ricoh/Pentax must take action. This is what the support told me. So please read this Ricoh!

Why would they when P1 took 6 years to allow their software to edit Pentax files?

Can you reference the source of your info of P1's willingness to add tethering for the 645z?
