Will the Pentax 82mm Front Lens Cap (31820) fit my 28-45mm lens?

If you have the HD Pentax-DA645 1:4.5 28-45mm, then yes. Buy a metric ruler ;-)

Yes it would, but if you keep the lens hood on, I'd recommend a different 82mm lens cap that pinches from the inside for easier ingress/egress on the lens:

That's sound advice about a different type of cap. Can't find the original cap anywhere and did wonder if it had fallen off.

Lens caps are physicists most compelling evidence that there are multiverses as they are trans-dimensional objects between our world and a world where cameras disappear and the photographer can only find the lens cap.

You may want to consider buying two. If you only have one, it will get lost. If you have two, you'll never lose the first one and wonder why did you buy the extra!
