168 million 5-micron pixels in a 6 x 7 cm array. I wonder if that can be built without stitching using present or near-term technology.

Sorry to nitpick but 6x7 is more like 5.6x7cm

Thanks. I need to keep the focal plane sizes at hand for these recurring pixel discussions. 157 million 5-micron pixels, or 150 million 5.1-micron pixels.

Even more nitpick is to mention the camera brand/model. A negative from my Pentax 67 measures 55.2mm x 69.5mm (definitely not 70.0mm) and from my Mamiya 7II is 56.0mm x 70.5mm all plus/minus approx 0.1mm with a vernier caliper (+/- 0.005 mm). And I imagine there is variation among the same camera/brand due to manufacturing tolerances.
