My 75mm lens has the best focus ring that I've ever felt; truly a "one finger focus."

I picked up a 45mm for the 645 this week and it's significantly stiffer, so I'm trying to figure out if the 45 is naturally stiffer or if I should just send it in for a CLA. Anyone with this lens notice it's stuffer than the other "A" lenses?

No, it definitely is not. Sounds like it needs servicing.

These 645 A lenses may be 30 years + old and this copy may not have been used for a long period of time. Maybe internal lubricants have dried up but that's not a big problem. These lenses were made of metal, probably like Minolta lenses, with a mix of brass and aluminum helicoïds parts. Using these 2 different metals assured natural lubrication and protected the mechanism from seizing. Just turn the focusing ring a few times and the stiffness will go away just by itself. At worst, have it disassembled, cleaned and lubricated. My own copy turns "buttery smooth", as the saying goes.
