Issues with light leaks / lines on Pentax 67

Hi everyone,

Just joined here and acquired a Pentax 67 with the 105 f2.4. Love the camera and the lens is amazing, but having some issues with images in terms of lines on the top and bottom of the frame or some slight light light leaks. I have had the camera CLA’sd and replaced the foam for the light seals and still these lines show up.

Was hoping someone here could assist with what could be the issue?

Would greatly appreciate the help.

Please see photos here for reference

Any way for you to scan a strip or two of film, edge to edge?

Having a horizontal line while in landscape orientation in the first one and then a vertical one in the second really throws a curve ball at the problem. I'm starting to think what is happening to the film after the roll is removed from the camera to be processed.

Hi John unfortunately I don’t have a scanner. This was done from a lab but the leaks / lines are seen on the negative

Sometimes this shows on frames and sometimes it doesn’t. I tried three rolls and most of the images had this issue. Same lab though.

Well, as a test, you could use electrical tape and seal the perimeter of the camera door and try again. The batman picture looks like a light leak from handling the film since it is not concentrated like the others. A sticking or bouncing shutter curtain will cause exposure issues but not like the first one in landscape orientation.

The first shot shows something way different than the others. You could use a decent digi cam or phone on light table. Being able to see the full frame including the borders, along with sequences would be worth more than 1000 words.

Hi John,

Here are some pics of the negatives. Let me know if this works.

As you can see some pics have the lines and leaks and others don’t

Have you checked the pressure plate that keeps the film in place, and that it is switched to the 120 position? Assuming that you used 120 film.

Yes it’s set to 120. I never messed with that and the repair shop also checked

Yes, big help. They all show some, it's the hard/sharp line across the top and bottom that's interesting. It's been a long time since I had hands on the 6/7 and at the moment I'm drawing a blank on what would cause those on both sides. As suggested, taping off the door next roll would be the first thing to try.

These color negative faults are referenced to small tank developing. But I suspect a few apply to commercial transport machine developing too. Fogging during processing looks notable.

I’m inclined to test another roll and have it developed somewhere else. Noticing the lines on the negatives it’s across frames which seems to indicate something interfering with the negative itself vs the frame.
