Have questions about 6x7 lenses

Hello Everyone,

I need to know a certain dimension of certain 6x7 lenses, it doesn't need to be super precise but to the nearest mm would be nice...

I need to find out what the rear element diameter is, i'm working on an optics project and haven't bought the glass yet, details will come when the project is finished and working. however in order to make choices as to which 6x7 lens(es) i'll be using in this project i need to know the diameter of the rear element of these lenses

45mm F4
55mm F3.5
55mm F4
90mm F2.8
105mm F2.4
165mm F2.8
300mm F4

Thanks in advance...

This is ridiculus, i know this isn't a busy forum but this post has been up for almost 36 hours, been viewed by 60 people and nobody is willing to get a ruler out and measure their 6x7 lenses for me... how about this, anyone in the Toronto area with 6x7 lenses, if so lets meet up and i'll do the measurement. if i had access to such lenses without having to buy them then i wouldn't be ask for some help here.

Hey Mike, I've been meaning to grab my 6x7 ever since I saw your post and I'm sorry that I keep forgetting. I have the 90mm f2.8 and the 55mm f4. Give me about 20 minutes and I'll have those measurements for you. This is the problem with working 12 hour shifts, haha I forget the things that I decide to do early in the shift by the time I get home.

-Morgan

Edit: Ok, here are my rough measurements (sorry, didn't have a great ruler and the elements are slightly recessed so I had to eyeball it a little bit):

90mm f2.8 (67 version) - 42mm
55mm f4 (67 version) - 21mm

Thanks, I'm a little shocked at how small the 55 rear element is, it certainly isn't telecentric if the measurements are within a millimeter thats all i really need

Yeah, when I actually looked down at it I was surprised as well. It's definitely not large.

I have several of the lenses you mentioned, but I also have a life outside of Pentax Forums. I'll be at my offsite equipment storage at some point today and will measure the lenses samples that I have for you.

If you can wait until this afternoon I can get the 165 and 300 measurements. I'll check back and see if there was any response.

165MM f/2.8 SMC 6X7 40mm

300mm f/4 SMC Takumar 35mm

The field lenses were recessed into the rear portion of the lens enough to make measurement difficult. I would say plus or minus 2mm

A quick Google search will find links to sites where the specs with all measurements are available. It is pretty quick. Many people looking here probably can't help. For example I am at work and cannot measure lenses here whilst they are at home. However, no worries, Google is full of all Pentax specs, try pentaximaging.com as well. Cheers

If it were that easy i'd have the information a long time ago, i have my doubts that anyone out there has published the diameter of the rear element or how for it is recessed or how far it can recess when focusing to the closest focusing distance, sure you get front thread details and size and weight and sometimes a pixelated diagram showing the the lens design but not accurate enough to know for sure to the nearest millimeter. now if i'm wrong help me find the information. BTW i don't mind waiting until someone arrive home to get the information, i wrote the first reply after 35 hours of no responses, i think that it pretty decent for being patient... maybe i should have waited 48 hours but i decided to help get things moving a bit.
