Kodak Discontinues E200

B&H and Adorama have discontinued providing Kodak E200 IN 120 format. When pressed for a reason why, they stated that Kodak has discontinued the film.

It is also noted that they are out of stock in the 35mm format as well. I did not inquire as to its status. Elite Chrome 200 was in stock however.

For those of you needing this film, you may want to purchase the remaining stocks and freeze it.

Kodak E200 was the worlds best film for astrophotography. Its reciprocity and color stability in long exposures was unequaled. It will have legendary status.

A sample of my work with a Pentax 67 and E200:

Evidently the film was not popular enough to offer a press release to its users, indeed the Kodak website says nothing.

I see this a a precursor to the elimination of all Kodak chrome films.

Thanks Kodak, you will finally kneal at the altar of Fuji.

Alternative to E200 for astrophotography

Perhaps. Provia 400X is a fine film with good reciprocity. It lacks what E200 was famous for, cherry red nebulae.

Provia 400F was better in this regard.
