How likely is the 645D in 2010?

Is the 645D a sure thing for 2010?

I'm looking to get a 645N with a 45-85 and a 80-160, both AF, probably with a 220 insert. What would be a good price?

A lot depends on the condition of the equipment. Are the dedicated lens hood included?

Under $1000 USD and it is a good, not great deal (assumption is the equipment is in very good condition, no issues with the glass or any major cosmetic flaws). Anything more than that and I think you could find a better deal by looking around some more.

The guy from Pentax said yesterday @ San Jose K-7 tour that 645D has been released in Japan and it's price is around 10k... I did a small google search last night and couldn't find anything on that matter though...

It is scheduled though for 2010.......

Look into getting a 120 insert as well. There are a lot more options for film in 120 than 220, especially for B&W film.

645 D spec from reliable source in Germany:

CCD sensor 32,6 MPX efective (cca 1,5x crop of 6x4,5 format)
X-sync 1/180 (with selected CS lenses 1/500)
ISO up to 6400
P-TTL
LiveView supported

lightning fast AF s 9 AF points
2,3 FPS

Missing: video, SR, sensor cleaning, possibility to attach film magazine, composition correction, wifi, duální card slot

Pricing unknown, expected in range of 5-6k EURO for body only.

It should be introduced in spring 2010, around the time the K-7 was unveiled.

Rumor says that one low end APS-C body will be introduced along with the 645D.

No doubt over the years I have collectively spent $10k on camera gear. But I'd have a hard time spending $9,999.99 USD for on a single camera body on technology that hasn't matured yet and no doubt you'd be wanting another one in a few generations of it. But if that camera brings in money for you that would be another matter.

You know for only $8k more you can get a digital Hassleblad. Why wait!

1.5 crop will mean a 4.0cm x 3.0cm sensor. That is just a little larger than Full Frame 35mm 3.6cm x 2.4cm. Or is my math way off? It seems quite small and to pack 32.6 million pixels into that space... Wow.

I was hoping for a lesser crop factor, fewer megapixels, great low light performance and around $6000.

The system price for me is so much less with the Pentax 645D - assuming it accepts all the A and FA lenses. I've got some nice lenses which I enjoy and am getting to know better and better. With the Hasselblad I would likely be able to afford a new lens cap and a used lens hood...

But seriously, the system price for me is rather reasonable and I get to keep shooting film as well. I just need to purchase a 645D.

Your math isn't off. That's still ~39% more surface than FF. The pixel density is comparable to current FF offerings and much lower than the 14.6 MP for APS-C. To maintain the latter for 6x4.5 (1.5 crop) you'd have pack in >47 MP.

Yeah, tell me about it. I just ordered a better used focusing matte for my Hasselblad 500C/M and that cost too much. And it should have had that in there from the get-go.

And Zeiss CF T* lenses line are not too bad for that camera used compared to there later ones.

I've already decided to take that road now, and got myself a 500EL/M. Now I can start buying lenses for it knowing that I can use them with probably any future camera that Hasselblad releases. And as for image quality, Hasselblad will always be better. And don't forget the fact that the digital backs are upgradeable so your old camera like mine never really becomes obsolete.

For $8K and a whole lot less, you can buy a used digital back for any USED Hasselblad!

Maybe this is supposed to be Pentax's idea of a FF camera for those who won't get one any other way!

LOL why aren't you moaning about the lack of back for 35mm cameras then. This is non-sense.

Mmm it doesn't match at all with currently known MF sensors.
