Want to by MF lenses

No, I am not a professional photographer, and as I said elsewhere that I am far from it. BUt I have a feeling that one day I will be buying a 645D, because I only live once as far as I know.

So, the questions I have for you guys is that if you were to start from scratch and start buying MF lenses, what would you buy?

I know I know it depends on what I shoot. Landscapes, architectures, portraits.

Any suggestions??

Thank you, guys, in advance

If you end up getting a 645D, then the FA 645 series lenses are a no-brainer.

I have several of these lenses (mostly FA and some A) and find that I use use the FA 150mm f/2.8 a lot. I shoot a lot of portraits with this lens, it is really lovely quality. I don't see it for sale a whole lot, so might be one to consider. Also, the FA 80-160mm f/4.5 lenses are really priced nicely lately - under $300 USD. This too is a very nice people portrait type lens, although I reach for the FA 150mm for the f/2.8, otherwise I would have the FA 80-160mm f/4.5 lens on - very nice as well.

Well, if you're going Pentax, I think everyone agrees that the differences between the 645 and the 67 slides are negligible when printing (not trying to start a flame war!!). So if you're investing in a lineup and you think you'll be shooting 645D one day, then I would agree with Blue: 645, no brainer.

Then it's really just a question of what you hope to shoot:

Wide: 35mm f/3.5
Normal Zoom: 45-85mm f/4.5
Normal, Compact: 75mm f/2.8
Long Zoom: 80-160mm f/4.5
Long Best, less convenient: 150mm f/2.8
Macro: 120mm f/4
Super Long: 200, 300 as needed

Thank you, guys, for your input. I appreciate all of them. I will look at each and every one that you guys suggested, possibly even pics. I am thinking that I will go prime, and also need to get a killer tripod.

I think that I am no longer going to buy another APS-C camera. To me, it makes no sense. I am very satisfied with K-7, especially when I print with my epson 3800. But if I aspire to print larger, one day I will want to get 645D.

I am actually getting excited!!!

If you can get it for $1000 then that is quite good. If you can get it for $900 I would say that is very, very good. Anything below those prices is an outstanding deal.

Note that you are not only bidding against people who want to use it on their Pentax 645 gear, you are likely bidding against people who will use it with a Zork Zörk Panorama Shift Adapter Panoramic Shift Adapter on the DSLR rig.

I personally have NO real need for 645 format. But if I could buy 645 lenses cheapishly, I surely would and having the lenses would eventually get a 645D - just for the heck of it.
