Thats neat. Don't see many high speed action sequences taken with the Pentax 645Z.

Thanks for sharing,

Thank you. I was rather pleased with how it turned out. I was using the P645 120mm f 4.0 1:1 macro. This sequence worked because when Mr. Mallard took off, the camera was already in Manual mode, manually focussed at infinity. All I had to do was follow the flight and snap as fast as possible.

Beautiful images. Flowers are sharply focused and look so delicate. Wonderful captures.

You have both the Pentax and Mamiya 120 macros. Have you ever shot the exact same subject with both on the K-1? It would be interesting to compare their renderings.

Thanks,
barondla

Ha ha ! You have better reflexes than I have, Ivan ... Well done ! At first, I thought you were using your 300 mm FA* lens.

Once I was shooting a flowery pond in Montreal Botanical Garden with my Pentax 67 on tripod when a young duck walked calmly under my tripod, stopped, turned its head upward and stared at me with curiosity, like it was asking "What are you doing there ?" It would have been a nice photo subject then, with my perplexed and amused expression, but there was nobody else to enjoy the moment.

Best Regards

P645N II: Snoegen, Nordskoven

Snoegen was an ancient pedunculate oak located in Jęgerspris Nordskov, near the town Jęgerspris in Denmark. Snoegen is located in the same forest as Kongeegen and Storkeegen. Snoegen died in 1991 after a few seasons of decreasing foliage.
It is estimated that the tree was between the 600 and 700 years old.

Camera: Pentax 645N II
Lens: smc Pentax-A 645 35mm F:3.5 (yellow filter)

Action Pictures with 645z

I was going through some of my pictures over the past couple of years and realized there are a fair number of fast action images. Thought I'll share these with you guys. In the pics I selected only the following lenses were used: P645 600mm A*, P645 150-300mm, P645 300mm FA* and P67 55-100mm. With the 600mm I used a gimbal head on a monopod otherwise the others were all handheld.

Two elephant "teenagers" dealing with their anger issues. Handheld 645z with P645 150-300mm

Family weaver bird entering its nest. These birds are super fast and make a high speed approach to the massive nest, then do a break maneuver as they turn sharply upwards "diving" into the nest, 645z P645 600mm A* on monopod in safari jeep.

Bee eater bird leaving its lookout point. 645z P645 600mm A* on monopod in safari jeep.

Two birds doing a ski-like maneuver after take-off from a tree. 645z P645 600mm A* on monopod

Butterfly on finals for landing to check out the flowers. 645z P645 300mm FA* Handheld.

Two butterflies in a mating dance. 645z P67 55-100mm

Buzzard eating his catch in mid-flight. 645z P645 600mm A* on monopod.

Egret Landing 645z P645 600mm A*

Eagle making a clumsy landing in a tree-top. 645z P645 600mm A*

Taking fast moving action shots with heavy equipment, slow frame-rates and in some instances manual focus is definitely possible. Spray and pray does not work and it does take some effort to time the moment.

Love the 1st image. Looks like a magician casting a spell. Very dramatic.
