I won't argue with that. But look through this tread, note when the first 645D pictures started to appear and compare color to your film pictures. I don't think you will find color like them for better or worse.

Got a break in the heat on Thursday and went hiking to Hong Kong's only four waterfalls. They are not spectacular but has a charm to them that makes a fairly steep hike worthwhile.

At the intermediate summit turning point we had a choice to turn right and return to our starting point, or turn left and go another kilometer and a further incline of about 300m, to reach the mountain summit.

We deliberated this lure to go higher for a while then decided to bank our good fortune and avoid a potential risk. We turned right and headed back to our starting point. Going down was no easy task and it seemed as if going down about 500m without pause was more difficult than going up.

By then the break in the heat had departed and the temperature started to rise, we were descending on the lee side of the mountain which meant no breeze to cool off and humidity increasing rapidly. By the time we got to the bottom we were both soaked with perspiration and our water almost depleted.

In hindsight our decision not to go for the mountain summit saved us a potential problem experience.

Here are a couple of pictures:

Fiery skies at Waterhead, Ambleside

Very nice and thank you for sharing. A real pleasure to look at. I once visited Ambleside for a couple of days and was very impressed with the scenery, definitely has to go onto my bucket list.

Damn, too bad I didn't have my 645Z on hand ...

Taken with a K3 and a lowly DA 18-135 mm zoom lens @ 78 mm FL and f/11. The 645 wouldn't have given me the same DOF, though.

I actually thought today to give this a test and go to the crazy place off the highway where this great and colorful "stuff" lived...all of it for sale.

And, apparently, so was everything and it's all gone and bulldozers were working the area......

Film could look GREAT...but, the system itself of gathering the images, with a locked in ISO, film type and having to change the film back after, at most, in the case of the 645 system, 30 exposures, not to mention possible chemicals or having to send the film out, then scan it...all waiting days or weeks for turnaround...all to get some elusive "film look"...is it worth it?

I will look over my color MF film stuff (working to put all of it in Lightroom so this will be good chance to review) and see if there is any matches or close matches to today that could be "captured" (i luv that term...as if...what , exactly was "captured"?)....if so...a reshoot will commence...

Shot fireworks Friday night with my K-1/24-70mm. Wasn't happy, had lots of camera problems. Went back out tonight with the 645z/55mm and was much happier. Perhaps not the best fireworks shots but good enough.

Look great to me. Once you shoot the 645Z even the K-1 is a little of a letdown. Need to shoot mine more.

Well, when you do it yourself, most those problems go away. And I have a digital when I need high-tech camera attributes; otherwise, the remain 80% of my pictures I don't need it to make the shot in general. Of course everyone's milage will vary in that regard.

Here is some DIY E-6 developing and scanning of Ektachrome E100 using my Pentax 67 when I was first trying it out.

I'm going to miss Fuji Pro 400H. I liked it.

I would agree - I have a D810 which shares more or less the same sensor with the K1 - and I will be selling it.

I would like another 35mm system - I think for longer telephoto stuff a more modern stablised lens etc is handy but will probably go for a 5ds and 100-400 (if I can track down a new 5ds) or maybe wait until Pentax release a K1 with more than 36mp - which for me and my needs simply is not enough.

I like em. A least you had the opportunity take some. No fireworks show for me this year. But here's a repost of one a few years ago just to feel like there was a celebration.
