Hi,

I love rainbows. I used to see dozens at one time up in the Adirondack mountains in NY. The best were on NYS route 74 dropping down into the Champlain Valley heading into Ticonderoga. The lake valley would get rain while there was none in the mountains. In the late afternoon as the sun is just above the mountain range The light is shining into the rain and so there rainbows everywhere. Even in the wheel spray from the vehicle. It was never a good time to be shooting, and to be honest, I was so used to seeing it that it never occurred to me to take a camera and stop somewhere and shoot the effect.

Well, not until I had moved away and so no longer see such.

A rainbow always gets a reaction. At the time, people were just standing there and staring up at the sky - the opposite of 'Don't Look Up'. Thanks everyone :-)

Each time I saw a stitched pano from a medium format camera I asked myself why would anyone still want to do image stitching when having a medium format (e.g 100Mp) camera instead of just cropping a single shot.

In my case, two reasons: 1) to get a wider view than I can achieve with a single shot with the widest lens i have with me; 2) resolution greed - if I can, then why not? I find it intrinsically pleasurable to have as much quality as possible. The key word here is intrinsically.
