Another Auckland shot, this time featuring the Harbour Bridge and the Sky Tower, shot from Birkenhead on a rainy evening.

Stack of low ISO files for the scene generally and a frame at ISO 800 to make the foreground boats sharp (they were bobbing about a fair bit!).

Of the same subject with various focal lengths. Which is perfectly fine when you don't have to pay for digital 120 film rolls
Hah! I must admit, I would have been just as reckless when I used to shoot film. Get the shots, worry about the bill later ;-)

Great shot, terrific as always. Saddened to hear it overheated.

You'll shift the covid in no times. The latest variant is nothing like the original strain in potency.

Are you seeing any PDAF striping or banding at all?

I can only see it being a matter of time before I succumb to the 100mp body
Thanks!

The overheating wasn't really a problem. The camera just came up with a warning message, kept shooting for quite a while without previews coming up (presumably to save heat-inducing activities) then eventually shut down. No harm done. I even got enough frames for the shot, as you can see. But a worthwhile thing to be aware of in the future.

As for Covid, I felt pretty rough for a while and got stuck in the USA until I was well enough to fly. But I am much better now, after about 6 weeks... Still get very tired when I try to do much, but on the mend.

PDAF striping/banding doesn't show up in regular use. I do find it's there when you do extreme things, like stacking hundreds of files in layers and setting the blending mode to Lighten - which I need to do for the star trail shots. But doing the RAW conversion in DxO seems to get rid of that problem. It mainly shows up in ACR files. CaptureOne does also get rid of it, but at the cost of causing tiling. So it's DxO for me! But if you don't do that sort of crazy editing, I think it's invisible.

Auckland again - this time viewed from Little Shoal Bay. As I was there on a work trip, and the optimal angles were to be had some way out over some mudflats, I was to be seen in the dusk wearing smart work clothes with the trouser legs rolled up, shoes and socks left on the shore some way off. The things we do for photography!

If you need only the focal lengths available for the mount, that 100Mp camera with the selection of aspect ratios is a great photographic tool. Not sure about the build quality / durability, but so all the raw files I've downloaded have very good quality. Except for the 100-200, I was very surprised that CA correction is not even necessary, there is none out of the box. That's a lot of money, but with full frame I have a complicated workflow (multi-shots, bracketing..), a pain in the neck for certain shooting situations, and hours of post processing , while I could send those 100Mp MFD files directly from the camera to the A1 printer, have the job done and nice in no time.
I was dismayed by the images I was sent from one using the 32-64 - I have seen better examples of that lens though but to me it was subpar.

The 100-200, 45-100 and soon to be 20-35 would see me covered. Something a little longer than 200 on the long end would be nice, but with careful composition, crops and aspect ratio's I could make the system work as well as the 645z/D850 system I run now.

My processing is ALL done within DXO PhotoLab 4. Quick sharpen, curves adjustment, sensor spot removal, saturation etc. I do suprisingly little to the files.

Build/durability - who knows but everyone on here who has them rates them, and on the UK forums I rarely here a bad word about them. The only two worrying things were the shutter issue (I believe fixed on the GFX100s) and the tripod base snapping (again, is that really common).

There are a lot of 32-64 for sale in the used market. But you should pixel peep 100Mpixels at 100% on 4K display because that equivalent to a 2 meters (~80") wide print.

Waiting to see what the 20-35 will be like in terms of size, optically and price. I'm concerned that the price might be over 3000, because the 23 is already at 2700.

Mount Piper Power Station by night. Another coal-fired plant that won't be there in a few years' time...

The scene fades away as fog rolls in and eventually obliterates the view.
