I feel like I'm getting better at using my 645 A* 300/4 on the 50r. Nice light tonight for it as well.
Absolutely love it, Matt!

OK, I admit it - this shot is a total cliché. But I just wanted to do it!

Fuji GFX100S with Pentax 67 55-100 lens

Great shot indeed. Never been there, didn't know it was a cliché.
With that lens, I guess the camera is on a tripod despite the IBIS? Do the heavy lenses not detract from the advantage of having a lighter body or is your experience otherwise?
(Not that you'd have that much choice for a 100Mp MF body, there's no Pentax DSLR with that capacity.)

Some new film shots

Pentax 645 + A 55/2.8 & A 150/3.5, Kodak Portra 400, scanned to 36MP TIFFs with an Imacon Flextight 5:

The last one was with a 6-stop ND filter, exposed for 8s at f/32.

Hello Theuns,

Try as you might, those big, heavy telephoto lenses (like the P67 400 mm f/4 ED) benefit from the use of a tripod or even a monopod. I know carrying a support device isn't always easy or even feasible. In the forest, a tripod or a monopod might save your life, like if you're attacked by a wild animal ... LOL ! When I visit Montreal (a 2 million people city), I always carry a heavy aluminum Manfrotto monopod when I travel in the underground Metro, this way, people look at me suspiciously and nobody approaches me by fear of being battered to a pulp. Your composition is marvelous BTW.

Regards

If I can ask, what was your workflow for this? I know there's tons of different ways to cook MW shots. Never been able to get that level of detail. Part of it is I don't live in a super dark area, between bortle 3-4 (3 if I can get out far enough).

sure, hope this helps!
Processing Workflow: This is a single frame, 17 x 8-sec exposures, combined in photoshop as a median blend to achieve noise reduction.

Additionally, because the actual view was nearly totally black to the naked eye, the overall exposure of the image has been increased significantly. In order to better view dust lanes and nebulosity of the galactic core, stars were lightly de-emphasized using StarXTerminator, free shareware.

Good advice from you Richard. Question is will I give up something if I know it is achievable?

Like all your pictures, these are also very nice and exceptional. If printed large they would not be wall décor but rather imitate a window with a view.

Excellent shots and really nice scans. That last one is very effective.

I still like your 645Z images better than the newer ones.
