Dunked my first SLR (ca. 1978) by scrambling about on some seaweed-covered rocks and sliding in waist-deep. Rinsed it out in fresh water, dried it in the oven, sent it to Rollei who declared it a write-off and returned it, WD-40, used it for another ~20-years.

Hi,

That was grand! One set of shots shows a person ice skating and the next shows just the water. No hole, but the effect is one of the skater found a weak spot in the ice.....

Hi,

I'm glad it worked, but fresh water can have as much electronics killing junk dissolved in it as salt water. The water evaporates and leaves the junk, which is usually conductive and corrosive. Ugh. What you want is water minus any junk. Then it flushes the junk from the other water out and evaporates and leaves nothing behind. That'd be:

Distilled water.

In all my many years of EE R&D I have flushed much junk out using distilled water with great success. If you think a camera is a costly item, you should consider a prototype someone spilled coffee into. One unit can be priceless once it's out of service. It costs months of delay to make another one and that can then mean being late to the market rather than being first. And that can be worth millions. Always worth fixing and washing the coffee out is Step Number One.

Think of the boss in the movie Office Space coming into the lab with his coffee cup. You can't chase him out. He's the boss.....

Thankfully the camera didn't get wet at all. My jeans socks and shoes were, however soaked.

Fun picture. This is a failed night shot, which I flipped to imitate IR and disguise the flashlight's bright spot. Taken in 2016 on a game drive in South Africa. The new look is very Blair-Witch. Almost looks like a charcoal sketch.

A lonely mangrove sets off the scene in Bundeena - a tranquil spot within the Royal National Park to the south of Sydney. I had no idea that this place even existed until I ended up there on a family camping trip. Conditions weren't great, so obviously I had to go back within a day of getting home, this time on a clear forecast!

For some reason I like the B&W version of this picture more than the colour version.

This is a beautiful location Ed. That mangrove tree has a lot of character and sets a contrast with the big bucks homes in the background. Very nice.

Looks like you had an opportunity to spend a lot of time in Myanmar and capture some fantastic memories. I wonder if it is still safe to travel there with all the political issues.

Matt it looks as if the ice is also on fire and you're skating through it. Fire and Ice! Very nice.

Feels like winter out there today. We got a few inches of snow last night and it's looking like it will be well below zero (F) tonight.
Some blue hour shots from the nearby creek which is icing over.

and one more from a little earlier

As I was taking the star trail shot I showed yesterday, I was aware the moon was going to rise soon - and rushed to get enough frames in the can before that happened. BUT, to give myself options, I also took some frames with the moon up. Here's a version with one of those included in the blend...

It is best not to travel to Myanmar at this time. But there were political problems during my various trips (1999, 2005, 2011-12), especially in the Shan, Karen and Arakan States.

Sønderborg, Denmark this evening on my way to perform at a Christmas concert at Alsion. Taken from the harbour bridge - no tripod so the camera was balanced against the bridge for 10 seconds

Nice, Paul. Was anyone throwing themselves off the bridge due to the football score?

Cheers mate - looks like I'm heading to NZ in March/April...

Another one a little later, this time 40 seconds resting the camera against the bridge. No signs of jumpers

a slightly different take on the one in the post above...
