I enjoyed that discussion illustration of sharpening a few posts back. Thanks itshimitis for taking the time to do all that work with your image. Before the extra sharpening it's clear to me that the attached image is degraded and that furthermore the 800 pixel shot looks better. I do recall something from Adam about photos over 800 pixels (was that the number?) not coming out as well on the forum. Something to bear in mind.

I am still working on everything and it wasn't until I saw a before and after shot that Makten showed me and then did the same with one of my shots that I got it. Medium Format is as I am learning less forgiving of poor technique, but the results are amazing once you to get it. Am grateful to this forum for its advice as I might not have figured it out by myself.

Voigtländer Bessa III + Bicycle = Love

I used to not like Tri-X, but I've changed my mind. In Tmax developer, the tonality is simply fantastic for scanning. These are exposed at 400-800 depending on the scene and developed for 400. I also managed to get rid of the purple cast by fixing for +10 minutes and washing for 30 minutes. After drying, the film has been "standing" on my desk, curled to a circle of ~25 cm diameter for a couple of days. After that, it's as flat as Tmax 400!

Time to clean the scanner. I'm pretty sure the streaking is from dust on the underside of the glass in the scanner calibration area.

An afternoon and evening spent in Cardiff, South Wales UK

Had a go at using some long exposures in the street during a busy afternoon in the shopping centre, which resulted in a lot of people thinking my 645D was a TV camera!

First shot is with FA 33-55 at 36mm f/11 4 second exposure using Kenko ND400 ISO 400. I had tried slower exposures with lower ISO but this meant that there was too much blur

Second is same lens and ISO f/9.5 and again 4 sec exposure

After a meal I went to the grounds of Cardiff Castle set up my tripod and after getting accosted by 4 teenage girls who wanted their photo taken (!) I took this image with same lens, at 33mm, f/22 and 102 seconds. Cropped in CS5

Lastly as I was trying to leave a locked park (I climbed over a low gate) I captured this shot of Cardiff's Millenium stadium reflected in the River Taff. This is 3 shots combined, at f/16 1 sec, 0.6 sec and 1/5

Nice slow speed work there - It is good to see your exposure time as well as that adds to knowledge.

I do this with a full size scan, in 120 usually this is at 1200 DPI, with 35mm it's 2400. After saving this, I resize, for flickr to where the long dimension is at least 1300 pixels. This is so that flickr creates the 'large' 1024 size image I'll post here.
I'm a little confused by that. If you want a 1024px picture, why not upload to Flickr a 1024px picture and post the Flickr "original size" here? You save some of your sharpening from being removed by scaling and control who's scaling engine is doing the work.
