Another day, Another postbox

Conditions are horrible in the English Lake District at the moment. Days and days of overcast dreary weather and today some unforecast drizzle

This has meant me taking more photos of things than off landscapes as the skies are as dull as dishwater. This is a Victorian Postbox just outside Grasmere....

FA 55-110 f/8 1/15, levels boosted in CS5

How are you set for ND filters? I carry a NDX400 and NDX8 around and find that covers the bases. You really don't get any extra time from reciprocity with Acros so you often have to slap on a dense ND filter for that film in all but the lower light conditions.
Funny you ask actually. Recently I ordered a NDX400 and NDX8 but I'm still waiting for them to arrive. Light here in Australia is bright and harsh most of the year, so I bet that ND400 will come in handy.
Prior to the NDs all I have is a single c-polariser filter. I was using it during the waterfall shots but I was also stopping the lens down to the absolute limit to blur that water.
Also upgraded my tripod head to something much more stable so hopefully I will be set for a lot more long exposures.
Thanks for the recommendations.

I've had to work really hard this week to get decent landscape photographs because it's been dull and drizzly all week. This is a 3 shot HDR and I'm pretty happy with it. It's taken from the shores of Windermere close to Waterhead. Took about 2 hours to get the right kind of sky as the clouds were moving VERY slowly!

Pentax 645D FA 55-110 @ 55mm and f/16 with Kenko ND400 Shutter speeds 40 secs, 92 secs and 151 secs. Was fed up with dull skes so tried to be a little creative without the HDR going over the top. I liked the detail in the tree trunk so wanted to retain this while keeping some drama and detail in the sky and background.

The strange blackened plants you can see in shot #2 are these, Australian Grass Trees - aka "Black Boys" or properly known as Xanthorrhoea Xanthorrhoea - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Nice color shots Jason, you made good use of both the film and the new lens.
I really like the 67 200/4.

I got a Pentax 67 and the 90mm f/2.8 lens last week and have been having a blast shooting with this camera, so much easier for me to frame a shot than my TLR was. Anyway, as some of you may know from my recent thread, I am now deciding what addional lenses to get, fun problem to have.

pentax 67 90mm f/2.8 kodak portra 400

Yes, its soft, the shutter speed was the dreaded 1/15 sec. too slow for hand held really and i missed the focus but I like the look!

pentax 67 90mm f/2.8 Tri-X 400

pentax 67 90mm f/2.8 portra 400

Thanks for lookin'

Great start mate! I have no problems with the 1/15 shot at this viewing size. Looks good.

Cheers Colton. I really like the 200/4 too, from what I have seen so far.

Thanks phonoline.
It's interesting to compare the new Portra 160 to Kodak Ektar 100 actually. I think the films perform more similarly than I would have expected. The ektar appears to be finer grained and more saturated, to my eye.
