This morning I managed to get myself out of bed at 7 to catch sunrise. Just as well as heavy snow forecast here tomorrow!

This is my first attempt at high dynamic range (HDR) photography. Taken at the Sutro Bath Houses in San Francisco over this past weekend. I used a 645D loaded up with Hoodman card, the lens was an FA35mm with no filter. This is a combination of three images (-2, 0, +2) run through Photomatix then Photoshop.

I picked up a couple of 120 folders before Christmas with the thought that possibly only one would work and if not, probably only one of them would be particularly good. My insurance one was an Agiflex Agifold. It was made in Croyden, has a non-coupled rangefinder and a 75mm lens. It also turns out to be very sharp and lovely to use!

Film was HP5+, developed in 1+50 Rodinal and dried in my whizzy own-design film dryer for dust-free negs

These two youngsters got a lift in our Jeep going from the monastary at Ritzung (Ladakh) and down the mountain to the valley. When we made a stop along the river, on the main road to Lamayuru, I had a nice chat with them and took some photos.

One of my first photos with the Pentax, featuring the Chula Vista Salt Works in Southern California. Lights in the background are from Tijuana, Mexico.

A glorious day in the lake District yesterday, once the mist had cleared. Was a nice evening sky too:

This is a multiple exposure using photomatix

Pentax 645D FA33-55 at 48mm f/16

Another multiple, further along the Brathay:

Pentax 645D FA 33-55 at 33mm and f/16

I waited for an hour or so to allow the sky to go dark, thinking that the full moon had set earlier as had not seen it out that day (misread my app) but decided to make use of the moonlight in any case as the mists descended to the valley

Pentax 645D FA 33-55 at 43mm and f/16

tighter crop:

Here's an edit of the Brathay view - reduced the magenta, blue and cyans substantially in the foreground..

Nice shot.

Now back home been spending some time knitting panos. Here is one done with my 400mm lens - I know it seems crazy to do a pano with a long lens but the detail is amazing (original file is 120 megapixels and 3GB in size) I still have a 6 shot 120mm one to do, but here is one based on 4 shots:

Pentac 645D FA 400 f/9.5 1/40 (all 4 shots in manual)
