What beautiful pictures in the above posts! You guys are just excellent.

Here in San Diego, got back hi-res scans from North Coast Photo in Carlsbad, CA... the first from my Pentax 645N 35mm lens. It is very sharp. Now that I know it works, will try to become a better photographer. Have been spoiled by instant-snapshot digital cameras... film is forcing me to think before I take the picture. I like this lens!

Yes, it is Zurich

When I arrived on the location the best places already were full of people, but then I found a place a little bit behind the scene and some steps elevated. This gave me the possibility to include the crowd in the pictures which is - I think - even better as "only" the firework itself.

Did you already visit Zurich? If yes, I'm sure you did some great shots there...

Here's my first-ever medium format shot.

I just wanted to see how the lens focused and what I could show with mid-day lighting in November. This was before the rainy season, so the shovel was still dry and polished and not caked with mud as it is now.
I'm really pleased to see how much detail is hiding in the shadow and how the shovel really displays the scratches that were invisible in color.

Great shots and I love the B&W processing. Whilst I enjoy your D800 shots I have to say that I feel these are a couple of levels above those for tone and artistry. You seem to have an intimate relationship with this camera and you can't buy that.

Thanks Steve. I love the 645D although it's not always the most practical camera because of its 1fps, but I love the 4:3 format sometimes 3:2 makes things seem very narrow. I also love the D800 for its resolution and DR. As I said in the full frame thread, they are different formats and I think that that is something that got kind of lost in the D800 v medium format discussion here and elsewhere. When I can only carry one system, the D800 tends to win out because of practicality, but the 645D is hard to beat.

On the other hand, the 1 fps can be seen as an advantage as you have more opportunity to think about the shot less likely to spray and pray. It makes a lovely solid mechanical sound on the shutter too.

Absolutely terrific shots, itshimitis!. As a Swallows & Amazons fan since childhood, I've always wanted to visit the Lake District.
