Spent the afternoon and evening in Great Langdale yesterday. Gorgeous light at the end of the day. Had a first go at shooting g the milky way as it was directly above e the Lansdale Pikes. Have tried to read around processing milky way shots but can't get my head around layer masks.

Lately I have been enjoying a completely different style of image. Fine art black & whites, a refreshing change from the pictures I usually do. I feel like my brain is enjoying the new challenge of a completely different genre.

Pentax 645Z + FA45-85mm

Keep the lovely images coming guys, I love looking at all the wonderful work you guys produce.

Cheers,
Tom

Surrounded by mist and fog in Ambleside I decided to drive to Castlerigg Stone Circle near Keswick to see what it would look like in fog. As I crossed Dunmail Raise I noticed that there was a temperature inversion on some of the mountains around me and drove into sunshine. Got to Castelrigg as the sun started going down and missed much of the sunshine because too many people around the stones, but got a few after...

Oh my!

I didn't know there was more than Stonehenge.

Very interesting.

More lovely countryside too.

Thomas, you're a natural

I like how you exposed with the long exposure? for the clouds? and the black and white.

That's another terrific zoom too.

Thank you!

Was out at sunrise - well actually 2 hours before sunrise and again an hour after sunset, in two different locations in the Lake District - Elterwater and Derwentwater.

10. The very last shot of the day - it was pretty much completely dark - 10 and half minute exposure

I like #2. The added light gives it more depth and interest. Not as monotony blue as #1. Thanks for all of your sharing.

I have a cold at the moment, and the forecast was not great for today up here in the Lake District and when I woke to find fog outside, I figured today would be a wash out. A couple of hours later, everything changed for the better (apart from my cold!) and I decided to take a trip towards Skelwith (the w is silent) Bridge for some lunch and see what the light would be like. The light and weather were both stunning. I don't often take photos of the waterfall Skelwith Force as it is fast flowing and in a wood so tends to burn out easily.

Have had a hugely productive afternoon/evening. Am really impressed with 645Z's power management, and really happy that I don't have to wait for long exposure noise reduction....

The stars in two formats - 15 second exposure, ISO 6400 f/5.6 DA 28 - 45

And 52 minutes (took a 50 minute on not long before also)

A bit before with the FA 80 - 160, an hour after sunset, 251 secs, 80mm ISO 100 f/8

"Cool" shots. Nice to see you back---maybe I'm wrong but seems like we haven't seen "you" in a while.
