They have got to be crops IMO. But great detail in those! Nice!
It's still 400mm of magnification, just with the wider field of view correct?

Right, cropping won't change the magnification. I figure these have to be cropped because I shot with my K-3 last night using a 300mm on a 2x TC and my moon only looked a little bit bigger than this uncropped. This one has much more detail than mine!

I like it too. My experience with my 105/2.4 on my 6x7 is I'd never try for a really close object and far in focus because it is typically too long a focal length. I can't imagine doing it with a 120mm. But with digital it is easy to focus stack.

Great to see wildlife with the z!
Gotta really underexpose to not blow the white highlights on the egrets though.
How much does the 400mm lens weigh?
Susan
Hi Susanb,

Thanks for your interest. The FA 645 400mm weighs about 2.7lbs and each photo was taken handheld.

I'm glad you posted these, are they crops or full frames? I've wondered about this lens and the field of view on the 645D?
Hi Littedrawe,

Thanks for your interest. All photos were Cropped. This lens should work on the 645D as well.

Nice bird pictures. I've read many a thread of APS-C guys whining and crying over how big and awful 35mm format lenses are for birding. And you man-up, take this gear out and get'er done.

Yep, it great to see wildlife! Woohoo! I have a tough enough time with my heat but the weight is about the same.

I'm curious how the focusing is working. Yet, my system of an old 1d ll and 400mm plus 1.4 extender is quite behind the times.
