645z and SMC 55mm 2.8. Jura strafed by oblique sun rays as an approaching front ends the Indian Summer we have been having. It was a rushed shot as this effect blinked on and off in less then a minute.

Thanks for the reassurance May I ask what RAW processor you use?

I am concluding that Phase One's lack of support to its serious competitors (P645D/Z and Leica S systems) means I will have to bite the bullet and start learning LR processing, as opposed to merely playing with it as an adjunct to my C1 Pro approach.

I use ACR and PS CC with Nik suite plugins.

I wont even consider Capture One since Phase One intentionally won't support Pentax.

The lenses have a DOF scale right on them. I think they are accurate enough but what they can tell you, for example, is your not going to get an object 6 feet away and infinity in good, sharp focus at the same time using a 105/2.4 lens or any lens much longer than a 55/4 for that system. I have stopped the 90/2.8 down to f19 and got things about 15 to 20 feet out to infinity in good enough focus.

I think things that are really close and far that are in sharp, critical focus due to focus stacking don't look very natural at all and you can often see the stacking in the final results too.

In other words, If I were going to shoot with 35mm and f5.6 I'd use f8 with the 6x7...more shallow dof regardless the lens chosen. At least that's my experience.
Given the size difference between the two formats, in terms of expected DOF the equivalent to f5.6 on 35mm would be F11 on 6x7 and not F8

A couple of evening shots from the lakes:

Pentax 645Z

FA 33 - 55 looking down towards Brother's Water from Kirkstone Pass

FA 45 - 85 plus big stopper resulting in 16 minute exposure at Waterhead I might be tempted to square crop this, but I like the subtle detail in the water in the foreground:

A little earlier with 0.6 soft grad and 0.9 ND

In memory of summer

Denmark has been hit by Autumn for real, so perhaps about time to share a summer image from a beach session

A few more:

The first one is a landscape orientated crop of the original - I think both work...

Thanks Mike. I agree re C1, their attitude absolutely stinks to me, having been a user of their software for some years. I don't like having to learn equivalent processing in LR, even though I like many aspects, including their DAM of course.

I may even try Hasselblad's Phocus, having downloaded that some time ago.

Thank you
Hard to take a bad shot with models like them
(Also hard to take credit for the shot since without them it's just a blurry white pic)

Lovely images Duplo. My wife and I want to get to Greenland some day. It's only a step from Iceland where we've been before

Thanks

I lived (and worked as a photographer) up there for 10 years, it is a truly magical place.
More barren, desolate and remote than Iceland, but equally beautiful.

From next year I will be guiding photo tours to Greenland in Cooperation with the largest travel Agency in Greenland.
But perhaps it would make sense to make a pentax forums trip up there?
